Another strange one... was created by AlanM
Hi again everyone! Thank you for your advice etc about this aeroplane... but I could do with a little bit more info, please. The Zenoah and petrol engines are new to me.

The fuel tank set up is baffling me a little. I have a standard bottle type fuel tank. There is a connection coming through the stopper which goes directly to the carb. No bother. There are 2 connections that come through the top of the tank. Each of these has fuel line coming from it, but the ends of the fuel line are joined to each other. Like a big loop. I see no point to this, but I think that they should be separate and 1. a vent and 2. a re-fuel line. Any thoughts? I have put a picture of the tank on. The 2 longer lines are the ones that were joined together.

If one of the connections is a vent, should this be open all the time?

Cheers..

Alan

Further to this... I have decided to put one of the longer lines to a fuel dot and the other looped over the top of the tank then the other to an opening on the bottom of the cowl, left open as a vent. Does that sound about right??

It looks similar to a bubble trap that are sometimes used on turbine installations.

It looks like a standard clunk tank to me... the center line is to the carb, .. the other two are for filling & pressure feed, and simply block one off after filling...... You need one to act as a breather pipe whilst filling, or you'll force fuel down the carb feed as the tank fills.
I think you just plug this when full.
I could be completely wrong though. :S

I just own the forum .... you guys make it great thanks.

It's the same as this, using the 3 tubes just means you can get rid of the T piece.
I used the 3 tube system on my very first IC model over 40 years ago.
With going electric I must have suffered brain malfunction for a few minutes & I had to sit & think of what the tubes were for.
Look at this link & imagine a 3rd tube going into the tank instead of a T piece.

Perfectly normal setup. The two pipes join together to prevent leeks and spills during transport. Before flight simply separate and one acts as fill the other as overflow. No pressure needed as walbro carbs are pumped
