MDS Engines - any good? was created by squareflux
Hi folks. I've got my eye on a MDS 40 engine on fleabay. It's new, unused, still boxed.

From what I've read, they're made in Russia, and build quality could be an issue.

But if you inspect them internally, and remove any loose material, or tidy up some moulding marks, then they're pretty decent with good power.

Any opinions or experience you could share?

MDS used to be a standing joke - Metal Door Stops!
Whether the recent ones are any good, I can't say - I've never met one!

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

I agree with Eric they used to have a terrible reputation, personally I would look for something like a Enya ss40, very reliable or a OS.
Just found this on Facebook market place...bet he would take £60. a superb engine.

balsa is best.

As a beginner engine the LA is probably ok, I have one, didn't like it much, I swapped it out for a TT 46.

Do it now, you may never get another chance

I have had Six MDS engines. One, an MDS 48 in a Ripmax Nova was my very first RC Plane. It did it's job. One was a great little fast one till it hit a tree. Four of them were not good runners at all even after a lot of bench running so never actually flew.
So, like others say, get a TT or OS or any other type which have a reasonably decent feedback.

Have a nice Day, unless I don't like you.
