AM 15 diesel

Stripped but left crank in situe, cleaned, checked, reassembled and lubed.

Mounted in test mounting and ran up.

Little difficult to start untill settings established, then a good easy starter.

The bugger bit me but no blood.

Rich runs then leaner and a final brief period onso g lasting 5 seconds or so.

Noisey but good potential.

Conical piston, I reckon it's the later "2" version measuring piston size.

Lubed and stored awaiting a period cl model to be made.

Os glow "pet" next.

D1000 fuel.

Good engines! I recently sold a AM10, loved to rev and was quite light, sort of wish I'd kept it now...

I suspect it is a later AM 15. Mine has a blue anodised head.

Looks nice Simon, you need to get some fuel and give it a run just for old time sake.

Paul, may I ask, how much did your am10 achieve ?

£40. Rich, went to friend so couldn't ask to much and I did only give a tenner for it although it was gummed solid and needed a conrod, there's pictures of before and after on here somewhere?

The AM 15 is certainly fiery but my favourite is the ED 246.

Powerful in its day, it even sounds powerful with a relatively deep note rather than the sharp crackle of the AM.
I still have its 9x6 "Trueflex" prop which added to the power impression as its tips flexed forward noticeably at full chat.

Better known as "the racer", Simon, I believe yours is a mkiv, if you post the serial number I can tell you how old it is.
Some of those later green head racers were available from the factory as Reed valve induction rather than disc valve, ED never advertised the fact for some strange reason.

Edit to the above...Its actually a mkiii Reed valve motor..
