What do we look for in a model aeroplane kit review?

This site is growing steadily & we hope that in the near future we'll be in a position to offer some serious reviews of commercial model aircraft kits & ARTF models.

If you want to cover the actual build of a model then please start a new topic in the Building Threads category.

By the time you get to here you should have finished & flown the model .... now we want to know what you think of it.

I know what I want to see in a review, .... The cost, ease of construction, what extras were needed to complete, is the suggested motor/ engine under/ overpowered?.... etc.

You can carry on in this thread & tell us what you want from a review & this will give our members some good ideas as to what they need to include.

If you're ready to tell us about a model you've recently built & flown the please start a "New Topic" & give us your honest opinion.

If you are unsure about how to start a new topic then please ask a member of staff... we don't mind getting private messages, ..... it's what we're here for.

Faults and area's that need improving.

I seem to work in reverse. The part I look at first is the flying report, poss because I enjoy the flying side of the hobby most.

Secondly comes the ease of construction, as due to a health issue, it has to be easy

Third and least important is the price. I say this , not as a rich man, but a person who will pay the price if the other two options come up to scratch.

Firstly whats this about price Gary the man who flies a Hangar 9 PulseXT,there not cheap,and youvr a spare!!!.In this months RCM and E or as my November edition is titled R/C model Aeroplane because for some reason Ive received the American version,even priced in dollars ther is a comparison between 3 models including the Renegade by B/H and the Harmon Rocket by Seagull..Both models did there job,but the Harmon Rocket surpassed every model by being perfection in all departments especially in build quality and the u/c especially.A lovely model to look at also.It was a superb flyer but I didnt feel that came across in the review as strongly as I would have put it.Then there is a review on the Zlin 50 by Lee Smalley.And a very honest review also.He described the build exactly as I would have and its flying characteristics.Unfortunately he lost his to a new battery failure,not only writing the model off but the engine as well.

a good review being truthful and concise is very important.

Also i like some quality build pictures and a summary of what its like to build as well as fly.
A list of all the extra's that you will need and rough costings would be nice.

I think it will be a good idea to link any review to the build thread (if there is one) .... Somebody did suggest this so we'll make sure it happens.
