i will have to clear my current build list first, but there is nothing stopping me from getting as much info as poss now.
So if anyone has any info on the saro princess flying boat, please speak up.
not decided on scale yet, but it will be largish and electric.
220 ft wingspan.
so 1" to the ft would be 18ft a bit big i think.
1cm to the ft would give 86 inch wingspan.
not sure yet.

no wheels at all, so water or grass only.
the original had 10 engines.
the inner 4 props are contra rotating with 2 engines each.
but i will only have 6 motors.

- Wind turbines. I'm a big fan.
I for one would be very interested in how you go about this getting from a picture to having a pattern for the wood. Do you start with a three view drawing?

size wise. hmmmmmmmmmmm
1/2" to the ft would give 9 and a bit ft.
that might be a better size.
need to have a clear out first, so will be selling lots of models and part builds.

typical bad management by the british government scuppered the plane before the first one even flew.
There was talk of converting it to a land aircraft and also of doing a double fuselage version with an extra 2 engines.
but as it was, they built 3. one flew, the other 2 were put into storage the min they were finished, then 10 years later they were all cut up for scrap.

The same fate scuppered the Pan Am, Clipper flying boats - they were just too slow!

other companies wanted them, but the government vetoed the sale for some weird only known to themselves reason.
100 passengers non stop to america at 350 mph, in luxury with proper sleeping berth's.
could work really well today as a holiday.

CAD would be nice, but that is way beyond me.
just need to sell most of my models, finish 5 builds and we can make a start.

If you find some online (pdf or jpeg whatever) , I can blow them up to whatever size you want to work with and print them off for you no prob.
