A chap called Michael McMurtrey posted the below message on the WIngs of Peace network. The books are about techniques for solid (non-flying) models, but a lot of the stuff reads across to working models. It may be of interest:

"The name Mike Ashey will be familiar to some of you, as he authored several books on model building for Kalmbach in years past. He has now made them available (some ot) for free download in PDF format.


The titles are:

Tips and Techniques for Building and Detailing Scale Model Aircraft

Building and Detailing Scale Model Aircraft
