WW2 warbird collection.

well i have nearly finished the first two of the collection.
debating what one to do next.
so far we have the spitfire and the zero.
both 11th scale.



so i was thinking something german and something american, then maybe italian and russian and french and ???
idea's please.

Me109E/FW190D followed by a P-51D or P-40....or even a P-38.

edging towards fw190d and the p40.

Five actually But the 190D and P-40 are a good choice, the others are over done to say the least!

An interesting plane. Slightly smaller than the Spitfire but with engine 25% bigger capacity than the even the 36L Griffon ! At 27L it makes you realise just how small the Merlin was.
Although built in some numbers it was considered difficult to fly (easy to get into a irrecoverable spin!) and as many were lost through accident as shot down.

the spit is ready to test and the zero just needs a canopy making and she is ready to test as well.

That looks nice.
I know I am being picky and you are only after stand off scale but it is missing the one characteristic that was unique to the 'long nose' 190s and Ta 152s. The parallel fuselage insert in the tail end .
Kurt Tank literally inserted a 'plug' to make it longer. The result was the top and bottom fuselage lines were no longer a smooth curve. It was really quite noticeable as shown in this period photograph.
It worked so the fuselage design was never altered and it had the advantage that production could continue with the short nose types using the same jigs. Anyway I expect by that time they had other production worries.

After a little break due to editors and finishing the Me 109 plan and spitfire plan and zero plan.

i have got back to the next one in the collection





will start building after christmas as i want to spend some time on the Sea Hawk first.
