Metal Earth Models 'Millennium Falcon'

Good friends and relatives took notice of my Amazon Wishlist and produced some super gifts for Christmas and my recent Birthday, included in which were several Metal Earth models. This is the first of several threads over the next 12 months or so as I work my way through the set.

The package is small and contains 2 small laser-cut and etched metal sheets and a set of instructions, my tool set is also shown on the tray:



Construction commenced this morning with forming and fixing part 1, and separating parts 2,3 and 4 from the sheets:



Part 4 was formed round the barrel of a biro; (Marshall Executive Aviation no longer exists, so don't bother calling them...):



Forming part 3 using tweezers and a thumb!



The assembled turret has now been fitted to part 1 together with part 5; part 6 has been formed and awaits fitting:

That looks horribly small to do!
I guest Metal Earth say to the designer you have two sheets and that's it.

I'd forgotten about this one, but after finding it in the corner of the workshop this afternoon, I decided it had to be completed. So complete it I did, over abut three hours this evening. The following photos would be self explanatory:

I think I would prefer to build the big Lego Millennium Falcon. With over 7000 pieces it might take a bit longer but at least you could see what you were doing. The only down side is they now sell for close to £1000.

Agreed Q, but the price would put me off, too!

I like the Metal Earth stuff, not least because they are are brilliant design concept. The detail they put on the models is impressive too and when finished they make a nice ornament (or dust collector, depending on your point of view... ). They also give something for the kids to buy me for christmas that is easy to wrap and send.

My next problem is which of the many Metal Earth kits I start next. The favourites are Star Trek's Enterprise or Klingon Bird of Prey, or the DH Tiger Moth.... Decisions, decisions.....

I still have the Lancaster kit I bought at SWMBO's insistence a few years ago. I knew I would never start to build it and my hand tremor has git worse so I will have to wait until one of my great grandsons is old enough to build it ( if I live that long)
