Cambrian Hawker Hunter was created by Graeme
Had one of these 20 years ago and it flew really well on a Super Tigre 45, only problem was a lack of rudder authority whilst taking off which I put down to the rudder sitting high and proud out of the prop wash.
Well I pulled the trigger and purchased another kit from Cambrian Planes and am half way through the build, now starting to think about finishing the model off.. The easy way for me was to go all red solarfilm and finish off with the supplied british roundels etc.. There are many great schemes for the Hawker Hunter which got me thinking about a nice painted finish...
If I was to go down this route would dope and tissue rubbed down then painted suffice ?

Dope and tissue can give a great finish and add quite a lot of strength to the structure, BUT it dents very easily and all too soon, that super finish will not look so good!
I've not used it myself yet, but Deluxe Materials do some finishing resins that look to be just the thing for strengthening a tissue finish. It's a one-pack product that is water soluble in the liquid state, so there's no issue with fumes and/or cleaning up afterwards.

Sorry to jump on this thread but I am looking for a set of wings for the hawker hunter in this series. I bought a kit for my other half supposedly complete and sealed but when he opened it there were no wings. I know I can get them made, but does anyone know what the wingspan is for this kit, or have a plan, or know where I can find one please? I have tried cloud models and Bill kits but they would need either a wing to copy or the drawings including the root and tip profiles.

The Cambrian Model Company web site still lists the Hunter and it gives the wing span as 41" and a weight of 5lbs 6 oz but that is with a .40 to .60 two stroke and fixed under carriage.

The full size Hunter used Hawker's own airfoil section called "8.5% symmetrical" root to tip. I could not find any details of that section (other than it was presumed to have an 8.5% thickness to chord ratio) however it was specifically chosen to perform well at the transonic region so hardly relevant to a model.
When I built my slightly smaller own design EDF Hunter I used a typical symmetrical wing section set to the 8.5% to give a good scale "look" and relied on an adequate thrust to weight ratio to overcome any aerodynamic shortcomings. It flies pretty well.
