Scale Technique

I've been playing with my CAD programme and Craft Robo (now sold as Silhouette Cameo) cutter/plotter to make a framed windscreen for my Veron Tiger Moth.

First job was to trace the pattern from the plan (I used the VMC Tiger Moth for this as it's about the same size as the Veron Model). I then created a drawing in TurboCAD of the windscreen transparency and the windscreen frame. The front and rear windscreen are slightly different.



The result was imported into Silhouette software, sized and copied to produce 12 sets of transparencies and 12 sets of frames:





The results were cut into an OHP transparency and some SolarTrim, respectively, the two being mated to produce the framed screen:





It was then just a matter of bending the screen into the classic Tiger Moth shape...

Ha ha...yes, I suppose 6 pairs of windscreens are a bit excessive when I only need one, Q ... however... The Craft Robo cuts material from an A4 size sheet, so to avoid excess wastage, I tend to fill a strip that's A4 wide when I position whatever I'm cutting. It also takes little to no effort to make multiple copies when using CAD and a cutter/plotter. In practice, I messed up a few of the frames while I was weeding them out which leaves me with two or three complete sets to cover crash/ handling damage.

On the other hand, if anyone out there is making a yellow VMC Tiger Moth and wants a ready made windscreen...you know where to come!

P.S. I could do other colours and other sizes for a small fee...

I might hold you to that Andy when I get round to finishing my Practical Scale 60" Tiggie. He He
