Big Bobber was created by Klipkopwildlife
When I built the Seagull I also bought the stl's for this Savage Bobber although Plane Print called it the Big Bobber.
The Wanna play and the Fearless are on hold since I don't expect the FunCub to last much longer.
Obviously one of Rene's early creations since it doesn't use LW-PLA, just regular PLA although I've used PetG

A hiccup in Cura meant that the 2.5mm tongues on the end of each wing panel didn't get printed so I made a plan by gluing in pieces of CF to form locators at the end of each panel.

One of the things that does surprise me is how good the glue bond is using CA, I can crush the wings but I can't break them!
The amount of internal detail in the wings is remarkable

Do it now, you may never get another chance

Finally finished the wings, the ailerons are top hinged

The flaps are bottom hinged.

And now complete

Now to start the fuselage.

Ailerons bottom hinged, and flaps top hinged????
That's backwards!

Ailerons are usually top-hinged, to keep the profile as smooth as possible in the faster moving air going over the top, while flaps are bottom-hinged, so when raised, again the profile is pretty clean, but you can get a 90' deflection if you want - without a huge gap underneath when they are raised!

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

My bad, absolutely right Eric, so glad you spotted my deliberate mistake I claim I was in a hurry when I posted.
Note how the Flap servos are reversed so that you can use a 'Y' lead if you want.

But - if you reverse your flap servos to use a Y lead, you will end up with one up and one down!
You want both your flap servos in the same orientation, and the aileron servos in opposition!
ie both output disks facing (say) north for the flaps, and one facing north and one facing south for the ailerons, again if you use a Y, not two rx outputs on different channels, and a tx mixer.
-
Although not relevent here, the fun starts when you try to operate rudders and elevators on a Vee-tail model! (Yes I know Taranis - and possibly others - has that mix pre-installed!)

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

Even the humble Lemon "stab" Rx has a V tail mix option as well as "delta" and "dual aileron" and servo reversing but then of course with a gyro all servo mixing has to be done on the Rx rather than the Tx.

Good for those that have trouble with mixes.

Wings finished and equipped.

265gms and 269gms, but one is missing its tip light, not that it'll make much difference.
The rear frame is a nightmare to get square, exacerbated by the fact that the PLA is very slippery!

The general lines look like the old KK Super 60!

Even with the diagonal bracing that rear fuselage looks very delicate.
How much is it expected to weight.

I've used MPLA which is supposed to be 5 x stronger than PLA.
AUW is supposed to be 1.5kgs, I think it's going to be more.

I put the wings on to help

The rear fuselage feels pretty robust, how it'll fair in a crash is anyones guess

Well the AUW has come out at 1460gm, 60 over the quoted target, there's no particular area that I can identify as being over weight.

Interesting that my battery is further back that their pictures.
After spending over an hour cutting out the wind shield I promptly lost it!, It finally surfaced out of the worm hole this morning when I walked in to my cave.

All ready to go, just waiting for the right day.

Knowing the size of your table and the room it is in that is quite a BIG Big Bobber. And the mock engine bits - nice touch.

Hope that landing gear has lots of spring to it - thinking of your field of dead grass clumps.

I thought the Bobber was bigger, then I measured it!

Surprisingly the Bobber has a shorter wings span than the Cub by 15mm
However the Cubs chord is only 220mm where the Bobber is 235mm
The Bobber has around 5% more wing area but is quite a bit heavier than the Cub.1.46kg to 1.15kg

Okay, so the Bobber crashed on her maiden

The rear, stick, fuselage of the Bobber is MPLA, it's supposed to be 5 x stronger than PLA. I've only now started to strip the Bobber, very little is recoverable although most of the stick fuselage and tail is largely undamaged, I noticed this morning that the lower, Port, longeron is broken where it meets the main body, given that she came down belly first, you would expect the top longeron to break, if the breakage occurred on take off, remembering that my strip is anything but smooth, the decalage would be constantly changing with elevator input and the rudder would move as well, precisely the kind of control problems I was getting! Isn't hindsight wonderful!
