I would say at a guess its a version of the early giro unit that was brought out before they (Orange) incorporated the RX in the same unit . It was a nightmare to wire in with short wires with a male plug on each end . I may of course be totally wrong

I agree with Eric.
You would have to know how, and have the test equipment, to build the electronics for a 'quad' from scratch to be able to make use of it.

I am aware of 'MEMS 3 axis gyro and accelerometer chip' but it is the first time I have seen reference to a 'magnetometer chip' presumably this has something to do with maintaining a bearing?

Suspecting is one thing Garry Knowing is another. That is why I asked for someone to tell me EXACTLY what it is. I am not a COMPLETE IGNORAMUS but as I said too damned difficult for me . Even 6 Ch gets me confused sometimes With regards to quads I wouldn't know where to start . I bow to anyones superior knowledge which is why I ask questions to clarify what I suspect or half know . I was once ( or twice ) told there is no such thing as a stupid question even if you already know the answer someone else may not .Becoming so to speak a devil's advocate. I actually wondered if there may be another application for this piece of kit although doubting it Knowing the answer to a question may remind you of something you had forgotten or suspected .This happens quite often to me at least ..Does this clear up the confusion ?

It doesn't clear anything up John, however, as your reply gets very close to infringing one of the forum rules, and possibly my reply may break that rule, which would be intolerable I have decided that any further discussion on these lines will be done by PM , rather than on a public forum.
