Cheap storage was created by Klipkopwildlife
While working on the Indians I realised I was spending way too much time looking for drills amongst the pile on the bench. So I came up with this.

The 'drawer' is just a few offcuts of chipboard screwed and glued together, the pots are old milk cartons with the tops cut off. Locally our 2ltr milk cartons are 100mm square so a 500mm x 500mm base holds them quite well.

At this point I'm about half way through, so I went and had mid morning coffee.

You seem to have a lot of drills!
I manage with one set metric (1 to 10 mm) and one set imperial (1/32 to 1/2") held in their respect cases with just a few odd spares resulting from "two in the pack" when buying any replacements.
The biggest problem is it is now much harder to get 'proper' imperial sizes rather than what is actually the nearest metric equivalent!

Stick a neodymium magnet into the bottom of each carton. The drills will 'stick' to the magnets. Makes it easier to pick thing up again when the furry friend (fiend?) decides to help!

No need for the expense of Neodymium. Cheaper bar or speaker magnets round the sides would be better I think as the drills would have room to stand side by side instead of all trying to stand on one spot. If you get my drift. Additionally blunt/awaiting sharpening drills could be stood on on side and fresh / sharp ones on the other.Also a screw ( or two ) with a washer could be put through the base of each carton so the whole kit and caboodle could be picked up in one go in the event of a similar accident. As an afterthought the tray could be hung or stood on end. If smaller cartons were used a lot of space may be saved.Now a question. Would magnetised bits clear the swarf from the flutes properly?
