Hi, I’m insomaniac45 was created by insomaniac45
Hi guys,
Found this place through one of your fantastic builders bomd007mas.
I recently designed the nosecone for his epic SR71 build.
I am a mechanical maintenance engineer/technician, fitter machinist by trade.
But personal circumstances means I cannot work. (I am completely healthy, but it is my son whom I care for full time)
I have been flying RC for the best part of 10years now, although it has all been foamies.
I started out on a P-51 and boy what a mistake that was.
I quickly destroyed her, and this began my love of building. I am a part of RC groups, but been dormant on there for some time now.
I have built most of the FT stuff, all out of HK foam and paper backing,
My current squadron, is
Dynam spitfire
FT Charlie (re-doing to the alpha)
FT guinea
FT mini P-51
FT-22
And a few more that have resided in the shed to pass away in piece ????.
I manufacture all my own hardware from my 3D printer, and have made the change from making them out of PLA to abs, (only the small stuff) as pla does not handle the heat well in an in-ventilated car.
But I am waffling now ????.
I will over the next few days have a good look around, as this place seems more my cup of tea ????
All the best
Tony

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

AAARGH!¬ Another Tony!
Welcome to the mad-house, Tony. You've posted this in the wrong place, so maybe an Administrator will move it to the Intro thread?

Welcome from me too, Tony...and thanks for posting the intro.
Hmmmmmm....another Tony.....should we be thinking of changing the Forum name to 'Tony's Forum'?

PS: Eric - I'll move the thread to the intro area after it's died down in a couple of weeks.

thanks for the warm welcome guys
I am very sorry for this not being in the right place. I was on my phone last night, and navigating this site is not the easiest.
Tony B - are you the creator of the Blue Baby?
i only ask, as the name sounds very familiar, and the Blue baby is what i turned my old broken P-51 into, that is the plane i cut my teeth into
I am currently working on bloody cookie cutters for the halloween season, but as soon as this is over, i will have more time on my hands to continue designing my next adventure.
I am going to be finishing off my Ugly Stick design (fully 3d printed plane)
then moving on to a Vultee Valiant BT-13A
somewhere in the 40-50" range
I will one day have a new workshop. Once that is built, i will have room for a full on balsa build, something i have always wanted to do
There is only so long foam can live, and i am a big lover of scale
Tony.
img is of 3 of my daily fliers,
The Skyartech Skylane,
The Mini P-51
and the bravo.
The Mini 51 is my favorite at the moment, it is fast, and extremely agile, but flies scale like with ease too.
edit - cant seem to insert photos
