I see what you mean - but
That would reduce your acceleration arc to about 100 degrees, instead of 360. Beyond that, you are throwing the model downwards!
-
It is also another bit of kit you have to carry about. The whole point of Discus launch is there are two items you need,  a radio and a model - nothing else.

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

All set up and ready to go, everything working in the correct directions. Had to add a bit of church roof to the nose to get the C of G right.
Looking at it looking at me, I thought t looked a bit like an eel's head, so I dug out my acrylic paint pens, and gave it two nostrils, and two eyeballs. Now I'm trying to get the 'rattle-balls' in the blue and gold pens, to unstick, so I can finish off.
I've shaken them til my arm aches, I've bashed the two ends on a solid surface, etc etc, and can't shift them yet!

Trying my ultrasonic cleaner on them now, to see if that will get them moving!

Didn't work either. New ones en-route.

Just checking and testing, hopefully ready for Sunday, and fiddling around trying to get all the wires in, decided to shorten the rx to battery via jst lead, for a better fit, and in unplugging the wire - I managed to pull one of the antenna wires off!
No prob, I'll just solder it back on - -
but I can't, it's one of those micro coax plugs and sockets!
Quick range-check with only one antenna, and it seems to work. I doubt I'm going to need a half-mile plus range!
Whatever, I've got a couple of spares en-route.

I've also given it a silly face, as I thought the bare surface looked a bit like an eel's head!
The silver of the pupils doesn't show too well on camera!
