Centuri Carbon printer

My Centuri Carbon printer needs a lid to keep the dust out.
 
Could have bought a version of the multicolour upgrade that included a big injection moulded lid but it raised the price 30%!
There are various self printed versions of a lid but they have to be in multiple parts that require a total printing time of over 24 hours and use up a complete spool of filament. 
In addition if you want to be able to see inside they require acrylic panels to be added.

My model plane philosophy is to not print a complete subject but build using sheet (Depron in my case) and use printing to make small complex bits. Why not apply the same for the printer lid? Acrylic sheet panels cut to the required shape along with complex printed brackets and small nylon bolts and nuts to hold all the bits of sheet together. Lots of hours designing the brackets and cutting the acrylic (I have the time!) but only 25% of the printing time and use of filament. 
Progress so far.
 
When complete it should simply drop into place in the same location as the original flat glass top panel.

Although my upgraded printer now has 4 spools which can be selected on command but so far I have not found how to insert a "change filament" command in FreeCad. I can select which one of the four filaments are to be used but only just prior to the actual "print" command on the printer. A true "multicolour" print is beyond my software capability at the moment.

Yes  The house had been lived in by the previous occupants uninterrupted for 50 years so much pf the original Victorian fittings were still in place. The wood fire surrounds in both the reception rooms were one of the reasons we bought the house! They both took many hours restoration to remove countless layers of white paint!
Its original cast iron fireplace had been removed and replaced by a gas fire so I put one back in the correct style from an architectural salvage yard. 30+ years ago there were alot of cast iron fireplaces being ripped out in the Manchester area from the advent of central heating and North Sea gas so were plentiful. Not so much now!

By the way that printer was only on the dining table whilst I upgraded it. It was not long before my wife started asking why is it there?
It s now in my bed room alongside my old Anet A8 printer.   

Yes i know in the 60s in ripped countless fireplaces out and installed baxi boiler central heating systems i contracted to the gas board for many a year
