Great race I feel, was it the fault of Lewis going for the gap mv left ....
Do drivers now have to ask Ch permission to overtake now ?
Looking at the vidio which was would like to see again, did Lewis release the steering to the left just before the incident, yes he did by a few degrees.
Did mv clip the Merc, yes he did.
They are both racing drivers and wanted to win.
Racing incident ? In my view yes.
Lewis had to be punished and was .
Had the incident not happened would Lewis have won, yes I think so.
Would have been a better race had the incident not happened, but the 2 drivers would have had a coming together eventually I feel.
Thanks God no one was badly injured or worse.
Should Lewis have overtaken the red car at the same corner ?
If the opportunity presented it's self then go for it, it's a race after all.
Both cars have brakes, throttle and a steering wheel being controlled by a racing driver.
Lewis could have crashed his car in the incident as well.
MV made a mistake, 2 really....

I would expect Lewis to have worked out that doing exactly the same overtake on the same corner would worry Leclerc, which it certainly seemed to do. You can't blame Leclerc. An unexpected 2nd place after a brilliant drive or risk a DNF after a visit to the tyre barrier on what is one of the fastest corners in F1.
I do also think there was a bit of 'financial' to the Lewis penalty. Cleverly set to make to make a win possible which would also close the title points gap. All good for the F1 TV ratings.

Well Sir Lewis has it all to do tomorrow, personally I think his only option is reset the car and do a pit lane start.

Although there has been much hype about the new rules making over taking easier I am not sure when the two leading cars choose to slam on their brakes to try to avoid being the first over an arbitrary white line just ahead of a corner to ensure the following car does not get the drag reduction benefit is not quite what GP racing is all about.
It certainly looks like Mercedes have missed the mark with the new rules by quite a distance despite their big budget. Toto Wolf seems confident it will improve but every race Red Bull and Ferrari beat the Mercedes car it means it will have to be developed still more to win enough of the later races.

Close racing always is tactical, to my mind it's the race director that's at fault for choosing such positions for the DRS lines.

Well the race stewards handed Verstappens first championship to him on a plate, after the debacle in Austin it looks like they're going to hand him another one.

Having been a fan of F1 since my dad took me to Folkingham airfield outside of Bourne to watch Fangio practice in the B.R.M so long ago until they robbed Lewis of his world title and gave it to vestafen, never watched it since

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

I haven't watched F1 since it became a race to who could change the wheels fastest in the pit-stop.
So - I switched to Formula E - until they stopped showing it in the UK, for whatever reason.
Now - I watch crap on You-tube instead!

The only thing worth watching is the Isl of Man TT races, man and machine against the clock, incredible machines and men that have no fear and an awful lot of balls and skill to go with it
