Guess you know what I am going to say!!!. Who is paying for the server?? If you say Mike and / Pol, then I for one would not be very happy. Before I commit to either server I feel you have to come clean on the financial side. I reserve my judgment until that info is made public.

Thanks for the explanation , but it does not make me feel any happier.

So what is the difference between paying members money out, or your own on a shit server. I know you made this site, and Pol runs it, but we use it and I feel that we should , if necessary dictates, help out with the finances. There is no such thing as a free lunch, and you and Pol have the same commitments as we all have.
We have a web site to be proud of, and even though we are small on numbers, the quality is there, and it will grow at our pace.
I, and I think the rest of the members trust you to do what is right, and if you make a mistake, so what.? It is not hundreds of pounds we have lost.

Any other member feel as I do?

I've just had a long phone conversation with Mike about this so I'll put my comments into the pot.

Firstly I'd like to say that I think Mike has built a brilliant site that has more facilities than any I've seen.... there are probably many things even I still haven't discovered.
Mike feels guilty because the host is letting us down .... I've pointed out to him that it's just like someone inventing a brilliant product and trying to get it to the public.
If the postal or transport system let you down, it's not the the fault of the product designer.

In our case the host is our postal service & is taking the piss.... the site itself is great!

We could pay for our own dedicated server but that may be overkill ... we'd be able to offer every member their own "modelchat" e-mail address without any worry about file size.
What would this cost? .... I think Mike said about £200 for a couple of years... (confirm please Mike)
I'll be bloody happy to pay this myself... it's the cost of two newspapers a week & I get to share my own international forum that could progress to any heights.
I just don't have £200 spare until Ann & I get her cash lump.
Ann would pay for two bloody servers because it keeps me quiet!

I'll say thanks to Klippy & Garry for their offers but let's not forget that other members may be prepared to contribute to the expenses but they can't post here because it's restricted to admin staff.

Please Mike ... just post the options & the costs .... we won't hold you responsible if the choice we make is a bad one .... we're grown men & we understand that you pay your money & you take your choice.
You could also mention the advantages & disadvantages of each option, but your main concern should go back to how to improve the near perfect.... not worry about the bloody post man!
