Buccaneer instant retract! was created by Quorneng
Buccaneer pilots seemed to specialise in doing everything low, even retracting the U/C!
Apparently you could set it to retract automatically as soon as the weight came off. OK as long as you don't drop a bit!

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

Yes, it's part of the auto-launch system, intended for when they are fired off a shipboard steam catapult, to minimize drag at the critical part of the launch.
Bucc's have a hands-free launch system, because the launch is so violent the pilot often greys out momentarily, accelerating from nought to 130 mph, in 70 feet!

Don't forget, on a carrier, they are instantly at 50 feet or more altitude, as soon as they come off the end of the deck!
