Permission to speak?
Greetings Playmates! I ran into a pair of reprobates ( no offence mean chaps!!) at Swnderby airfield on Tuesday who said if I didn't sign up to this site they'd hunt me down and do full safety and airworthiness tests on all my aicraft..and ground any which failed so here I am....
I was down at Swinderby airfield on Tuesday to give my Tony Nijhuis 72" Avro Lancaster its 2nd flight. 1st flight was absolutelly fab, only my camera ran out of power and didn't film it. Still, back at Swinderby, everything charged and ready to go... what could possibly go wrong? Below is a link to the relevant page in my youtube ac..( Jah Baga I ).. plenty more vids in there of varying quality... DC3, Bearcat, amphibious DHC-2, F9F, Sea Fury, treat yorselves.. have a look!

... I did not like it up me!

Bad luck!
By the commentary there was obviously something going wrong a few seconds before it went in.
Loss of power on one or more motors perhaps?

Hi again Ian and a warm welcome to this mad house. The 2 reprobates he mentioned were Pol and myself lads. We felt he was harmless, so invited him to join us :woohoo: :woohoo: he will soon be as daft as the rest of us :cheer: :cheer:

Welcome once again Ian, and when you have a minute, pop a short post on the "Introduce yourself" thread, then the folks will have a better understanding of where you are in this mad hobby.

Have fun on here mate, we do

wasnt lock out, or the failsafe would have cut in, and cut all 4, looks like a serious loss of power on one side, rotten luck, and, err, welcome to the forum,

i have 2 sides

Saw the take off, watched the flight, but missed the reason for the crash, as was readying a model for flight, and only looked up to see it going in

Evening Corp, welcome, and sorry for your loss. :( I don't fly multi engine jobs (maybe one day) but would loss of power on one side cause such a high speed spiral dive?

Do it now, you may never get another chance

Cheers folks for the welcome and interest. I have had problems with one of the gearboxes stiffening up. I had dismantled it and loosened it, perhaps not reassembling it correctly, so it stopped driving but was windmilling. If you notice out of turn 3 I start to loose altitude rapidly but 'catch' it and throttle wide open to climb. As she passes for the final time, I fancy she's flying side ways, crabbing slightly, I'm thinking there of trimming the rudder when she slowly winds beyond my control. A great shame, so the more people see the video the better.... at least she will provide some entertainment!

I’d like to know how the batteries and Esc were hooked up, if it's possible?

Morning aviators! Thanks again.... Mr. Klip..... esc's are 2 x 35A, each wired to 2 x 480 ( brushed ) motors with gear reduction. I did not build the Aeroplane, but bought it unflown but fully built. I changed the original 400 motors for the 480 s. Had I built it ( not likely as I'm a kit assembler, not a builder...) I would have installed 4 x brushless motors. Now go and watch some more aeroplanes fly and crash on Jah Baga I channel on Youtube... please!

One 35 amp esc driving two 480's? Pretty marginal power handling there, and if one motor semi-seized, that would boot up the current draw drastically, killing the esc.
I'd have thought it safer with one 35 amp per motor, and that wouldn't leave much 'headroom'!
