series on the worlds wierdest weapons was created by Sarah-Jane Smith
I have been watching a series on the Yesterday channel about the worlds wierdest weapons. I kept meaning to post it on here and completely forgot till someone on another forum mentioned it and reminded me, It is on the Yesterday channel (sky 537, virgin 206 and freeview 19) and well worth a watch, a brilliant account of Percy Hobart and his amphibeous tanks in episode 1, Jet packs and flying platforms with turbo fans and jet engines in the quest to get people in the air without the need for helicopters/planes in episode 2 and ww2 guided bombs and missiles in episode 3. Tonights episode (3) is on Hitler's weapon's, the ME 163 b comet, the super gun, the V1 pulsejet and the Horton 229 flying wing. The next episode (3) is on a 17.00 today.
I have had a look online for it for anyone who cant get the above channels, or doesnt have a tv and here is a link to the series and found this, you do have to sign up for the channel but it is free and is just for the purpose of registering, so dont worry nothing shady.

You have 3 days left to watch the first episode, 4 days for the second, 5 days for the third and so on lol but it really is facinating viewing.

I watched the episode on the jet packs. Fascinating.
I had not seen any film of the gas turbine back pack. I guess it was never really going to be practical on size and weight alone. The pilot said it wasn't too bad to carry with the turbine running at 'flight idle' as it produced 100lbs of lift thrust. It does make you wonder how much it actually weighed.
I note when it came into land and there was a man ready with a sort of zimmer frame ready to place under the pack to take the weight!
