Sympathetic actions? was created by Quorneng
In the August AAIB report there are two incidents of early flap retraction after take off (instead of the undercarriage - Oops!) by different Airbus 320s (one at Birmingham and one at Schiphol) but on the same day!
One was more serious as the flaps and slats fully retracted which caused the plane to sink before the airspeed built up to regain a climb after TOGA (full power) was selected.
In the other the co pilot immediately realised his mistake and returned the flap lever to the selected position which prevented the slats from retracting but the flap logic meant they continued to retract although the plane remained in a climb throughout.
Coincidence or maybe a suspect layout?

We may have all seen the now old video of Ray Hanna low flying over the head of a TV presenter but I have just come across this still photograph taken by one of the film crew as Ray was approaching.
I reckon from that shot he must have gone up a bit simply to clear the fence the presenter was standing in front of!

There is also
this photo
taken of him with the Spit doing a low pass down the start finish straight at the Goodwood Festival press day.
At the time it was titled "Ray Hanna looking for parking space!"

No Squadron Leader Ray Hanna died in his bed aged 77.
He helped form the Red Arrows and lead the team for 4 years (twice as long as anybody since) flying Folland Gnats. He created many of the formation moves they still use. He was well known to fly Gnats low as well!
On leaving the RAF he set up a company with his son (also a RAF pilot) to fly planes for films and displays.

You may be thinking of his son, Mark, who died in Spain in a Buchon crash back in 2000 - shook me to realise it was so long ago!THE BLACKBIRD wrote: Did this guy get killed ??
