Somehow I've done the tips but not photographed them.
As you can see the tip edges maintain the mean chord line from LE to TE. I agree with peter, it doesn't seem to be very strong, but there's so much dihedral it's doubtful the tips will ever get near the ground!

What a nice build thread Klippy, it brings back happy memories of my Radio Queen too. Back in the 1960s a colleague got hold of one of the original prototype models of Colonel Taplin's kit, together with a set of plans. He stripped and recovered the model and soon had it flying again. I was so taken by it, that I traced the plans (couldn't afford to buy a set in those days) and over the next twelve months slowly built my 'Queen'. The time scale was due to only being able to afford two or three sheets of balsa a week on my then Saturday job wages.
Anyway, looking at your model there are few changes to the original, none of them significant - the front end is slightly different and the original dispenses with the extra TE piece using only two pieces of 1/16" x 2" balsa. The tips on the original are laminated too, but I don't see that making any difference - to cut costs, I only used half the required number of laminations on mine and that seemed to work OK in practice. And, of course, being single channel, there was no elevator.
Good luck with the build which I shall now follow with interest.

Well, it seems I last worked on this in March 2014. As some of you know I moved house some 300kms away. The Radio Queen survived the move but not the subsequent storage!
Nibbled by little furry things.
After discovering the damage I removed the parts and put them on a high shelf!
Whence the wing hurled itself to the ground during a big storm.
She has since been moved to a safer place. Our new puppy, now 8mths old has eaten some of the tip parts, but nothing that can't be fixed.

Sadly no Paul, since my Shingles in early March last year I've done absolutely nothing, my life is one long 'pick up and drop'. The constant pain of the Post Herpetic Neuralgia means I can't concentrate for very long. My tendency to throw things when my concentration fails means I haven't started anything remotely complex or fragile.
I did have some improvement earlier this year but it's got worse again.
