My Lysander & Gannet projects are both grounded due to lack of wheels.
I am hoping to get the drawings finished on my big project, a 40inch span R/C trainer this weekend.
All the detailing for the laser cutting is taking a long time, it obviously has to be right or else it could be an expensive disaster. There's six cutting sheets & all the dimensions have to be manually checked between each of them without the aid of 3D imaging.
Hopefully the laser cutting will not be too expensive, there's not much choice of kits, the VMC Super Cub looks like the only alternative but for me building from scratch is much more satisfying
My side monitor which shows the "widget windows" packed in (after 10 years) so I had to get a new one. Without it the pop-up windows jump around the main screen & are always in the wrong place.

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

all finished.
i did a few things wrong that could not be changed once i had found them late in the game,. so she is grounded.
the worst mistake i did rite on day one (without knowing) it was in the nose section area of the lower fuselage. in the end the engine hood sits too low. and now the front cowl does not hold the rubber motor properly. the hood would normally fit elevated at the back near the firewall.
i do like how the tissue turned out.
i found the oil cooler rite after i took the picture and will be gluing it on shortly.
i will do the job corretly on the next tiger moth.
all in all i am pretty happy with it. every build time you learn something new.

They may be the odd build mistake but that is indeed "competition" standard tissue covering!
Not even tiniest wrinkle anywhere that I can see! Well done.

Yes OU, your covering is excellent.
I notice you do the wing tips separately, I try to put it all on in one piece & get wrinkles.
Also it looks as if you do the top of the wings first.
I like the card jig to set the wings up. VMC have balsa pieces which you have to glue together over the plan. With the triplane I ran out of dexterity. The card jig looks much better.
My tyres arrived today so I started to make up the spats, now I need some black paint.
I also discovered that I hadn't fitted the piece of balsa for the dowel for rubber motor. I don't know how but I've X-rayed it with a spotlamp & cannot see it.

Magpie
that cardboard wing templet is good and Dumas seem to supply it on all the bi planes.
on that plane i try covering the top of the wing first. i don''t normally do that. it was a bit of fiddling around doing the top first. it is wrapped all the way around the leading edge and then when i did the bottom i could trim the tissue rite up to the edge with a razzor knife which made that joint almost disapear. that being said i don't know if i will do it again a bit of a challenge.
i always try to do the wing tips seperate because i could never get them wrinkle free, it took me a while to get that process down. you just have to be real careful when making that join.
thank you , i am real happy with this plane, one of these days i am going to build a flier, hopefully!!
