Dumas Lysander my try. was created by old ugly
i start on the lysander a week ago. and i can see the issues Magpie had, i am working through them tho.
i have the fuselage structure complete. i have done a camo test panel with two colors of tissue that i think will work.
just starting on the wing which i am building in one pc just to try to keep them the same and will cut apart after.
the first day of spring, i hoping the snow shoveling is almost done but you just never know.

The covering looks perfect.
How did you do the camouflage? Do you glue the green onto the base tissue & what glue? I did mine all black to make it easy, & didn't do all the details. I tried the cowling but it was rubbish so I left it off.
How are you going to do the final fixing of the wings?

Magpie,
Thank you for you comment.
For the camo i put on the light color tissue first and then shrunk it with water, Then I cut out camo shapes. i just laid the camo cutouts on the previously covered surface then with a small paint brush and a watered down solution of carpenter's wood glue i carefully brushed the solution around all the edges of the camo, (a thin line just to stick it down). then i water shrunk it again, i did the third color the same. but the third color is three layers thick and some of it didn't shrink as well. i don't think i would do 3 colors again. the issue with the way i did it is, a thin glue line is visable, i don't think it distracts from the effect.
This is the first time i did camo. i could not find any videos of how others do it.
The wings. i pre fitted the canopy. i pre fitted the wings. then i pre fitted the canopy and wings together. lots of fitting and adjustments to get them to sit correctly. then when i was ready to glue the canopy down i put the dowels through the canopy, slide the uncovered wings onto the dowels. then with the dowels, wings and canopy centered as an assembly i was ready to put that assembly onto the fuselage. i put a dab of 5 minute epoxy on the top fuselage platform rite where the dowels would sit. then holding my breath and all puckered up i put the canopy assemble onto the fuselage. (i sat and held the whole thing in my hands until the glue set, it took longer than 5 minutes) once the epoxy dried i slid the wings back off and covered them. final assembly, i CA'd the dowels to the end wing ribs. it took me a long time to think of how to do that and keep it looking good. there is no way to that i know of to get those wings to sit perfectly horizontal. it is all glued together and i think it came out pretty good.
The cowling, i cut out the paper section, rolled it up and taped it together, slid it over the front, fitted it, then glued it, it wasn't too bad.
I saw the issue you had with those inner wing ribs and addressed that rite off the bat. i carfully detached them from the sheet balsa, laid them on wax paper and soaked them with CA glue so they are stronger.
I thank you for you posts on your lysander. that really prepared my for what i was going to find.
All in all this is a kit that really tests your brain and patients.
