Ah, sorry 101, I'm confusing people - it was ROLAND Scott on the East Lancs road.

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

Hi Everyone and especially Tony. Firstly please let me apologise for not updating you on the progress of the Turman models 109 I acquired quite awhile ago now from Tony but that thing called work has kept me too busy to do anything to the model worth posting here.

I will start with a brief history of the Turman models 109 and my late father.

My father, Roy Scott being a prolific designer and builder of scale model aircraft also worked as a modelmaker within the film industry and one of his commissions was to make a 'large' flying Messerschmitt 109e for a TV series called 'Enemy at the Door'. I do not know much about how the Turman connection came about but the 109 was then kitted by them on the Isle of Mann. As a young boy at the time of the original 109 for the film being made, I can remember the rudder hanging from a lamp, drying after having a cote of dope much to the annoyance of my mother!. I have always wanted to collect various models kitted by my father in the 70's and the practical scale BE2e and Turman models 109 were always high on my list. Fast forward to a few years ago.... I replied to the post here about Tonys by now unwanted Turman 109 and within a few days found myself a proud owner of an original Turman kit!! ( thankyou Tony, i will always be grateful to you).

My time due to work to post here will be limited however I will try to keep you all updated as much as I can on the restoration of this model.

Firstly, it was obvious that whoever originally made the model made a very good job of it but the years haddn't been kind to this poor old girl!. As you can see from the begining of this post the fuselage are in two halves and these have been internally cleaned and sanded back to a good glass surface, stripped of any fuel soaked wood etc and generally given a good surface clean. The wings have been levelled on the bench and the fuselage jiged and the geometry checked to make sure everything is straight and where it should be. I now intend to add strips of wood to the inside of the fuselage to hold the model together whilst its superglued and then the interior will be re-glassed. The wood 'stringers' will be glassed over to form strong D section lengths bridging the repair. Finally the exterior of the fuselage will be made good by filling and sanding, followed by re detailing.

When you post something, don't be in such a rush - give the thing time to load up! It can take a couple of minutes if the broadband is busy.
And don't forget to click the 'insert' box before you push the 'send' button, when you put pictures on! :P

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

Hi guys, yeah the workshop is abit clean Tony, that will change soon!. 'The Beard'- Luckilly there arnt many bits to go back together and what bits there are seem to self locate and jig. Glued it together last night and added some temporarilly glued timber strips to keep the sides straight whilst i glue in some D shaped stringers.

Here is a pic from a few days ago showing a couple of the stringers going in. These will be glassed over to give a strong d section to the fuselage side
