Probably a tall order but does anyone out there have any off-cuts of red Litespan? Fuselage has developed 'hangar rash'; not severe enough to re-cover with an alternative. I only need a piece about 50mm square or whatever is available. Failing that, advice on repairing what are tears rather than holes. I've repaired similar in tissue with just dope many years ago but don't know how Litespan would react to dope.

Not something I've used, sorry.
You could try a semi-permanent repair with clear derma-blend tape.(On the inside, if you can get at it).

Thanks Eric. It was the first and only time I used Litespan, primarily for its fuel proof properties. If I had known that supply would dry up, I'd have stuck to tissue. Unfortunately I can't get to the inside of the worst tear, so your suggested method is a non-starter I'm afraid.

If it helps I've got some red tissue that's a exact match, I used to love litespan.
Edit....Solarfilm sales are showing it as in stock! not a lot of people are aware that although they've officially stopped trading they are still selling off the remainders of there stock...I bought from them last year.

balsa is best.

Thanks Paul. Can I keep your offer in mind please? My concern with using tissue is the effect on the polyester film of applying dope (cellulose). I still have some original red jap tissue (yes, really) so I could experiment by pre-doping a sample over a 'window' to see if it could be used as a patch and glued on.
I tried to place an order with Solarfilm yesterday but the system wouldn't accept the mandatory phone number, and stalled before the check-out process. I tried to call the number given on the website but no reply.

Perhaps it's a part-time shop.
I think I saw on the site that you have to pre-book a personal visit.
My email order went through with no problems.

Tissues here if you need it Alan..just give me a shout.
I think the solarfilm site is being run from someone's garage on a part time basis.

In view of responses to my post indicating that Solarfilm may still be trading, I just tried again to submit an order. This time it went through without a hitch so, hopefully, my problem will soon be gone. Thanks all.

As far as I can tell without unrolling it - it's perfect - no streaks or blotches.
