My club's field in Coventry

This is the field, the club owns the field. The patch is the oval bit in the middle, it is about 200' across (west to east) Flight line goes right round the patch.
You can see the north to south pits line to the left of the patch, and the west to east pits line below in, which was in use when the photo was taken.
Zoomed shot of the the north south pits, note the crowds of people, the crowd (me) was behind the camera.
The north south pits
and standing in the same spot, turning 90deg, the west east pits
Taken from the east side of the patch, the patch is the shape of an upturned wok, not flat.
You can see the ground is quite uneven, and the rise of the patch can be seen by the fact that the camera is at eye level, and the Mentor is on a stand, but only just visible
This shows a bit of how lumpy the ground is.
Makes no difference for ordinary planes, but I don't think it would suit a jet
One of the best parts is that I can get there at 5am and start flying, so long as it is electric, seeing where you are going is the only restriction

I suppose we do have an advantage, that we operate from a tarmac runway, but it can prove very hard:)

Yes, you can,but unfortunately the most common direction is 45deg to each pit line, from the car parking area !
I like flying there, there are no trees in the approach path, the wind doesn't worry me as I am usually by myself at the times I fly, and I have got used to the up and down of the patch, unless it is very gusty, it isn't hard to land on the top section, nothing I have needs more than 45' or so.
The one and only problem is the sun in your eyes in the morning, but then I use the other side and take off and land towards me if no one else is there, or land cross wind if there is.
It's a very pleasant field to fly from.

Yes, it has flaps, and wonderful they are to!
Today, landing with full flap against the wind, the landing roll was about 6'.
I use a little flap for take off, get away from the ground as quick as safely possible, and usually use the 1/2 way position for landing. I effectively have four positions if you count full up.

I must look at my Mentor and see if I can do something similar.
Very easy, cut them out with a new blade, hinge along the bottom surface with blenderm, and cut out the wing for the servos (making sure you cut the hole the right way, I reversed the one servo)
You can hardly see the line on the upper surface when they are up
