From what I have discerned so far is the MFNZ, CAA and the district council have asked the members of SWMAC to have written safety Bylaws that would bring them in line with the rest of the R/C clubs. The legal nature of today’s society demands that we “dot the I’s and cross the T’s or in lay terms COVER YOUR ARSE, With a signed legal document. The “Do not be an Idiot and Have fun “reply would not stand a second in court. How difficult would it have been than to take the MFNZ safety rules and the CAA rules marry the two into a sensible document sign it and send it to the powers that be.
The FPV incident can be viewed on You Tube. That particular craft crashed over Two Kilometers away, well out of sight and with no fuel for return. Fortunately no one was injured and no property was damaged as a result.
More and more around the world irresponsible people are using the tools and craft of our hobby to make their fifteen minutes of fame on You Tube. One man just recently was caught trying to purchase plastic explosive to put into an R/C. His plan fortunately was thwarted yet; this sheds a bad light and no doubt will bring stronger laws and restrictions on a sport and Hobby that we enjoy.
As for model chat lending its collective voice to any controversy I agree with Mr.Pollard.
