Exactly what I was looking for.
Interesting reading through, I started off as a research chemist then went and did an Msc in process control and instrumentation and ended up a process engineer.
Now I am a security officer working nights till I retire. Hence the boredom factor and a need for a hobby.
Like the conversion fairly straight forward.
Thanks
Thanks: Eric

£23.84 plus postage isn't bad. It's used on a JR transmitter on the thread wonder if its compatible with Futaba gear ?
I would be interested to know the correct wires to connect in a Futuba set assuming it's comparable. I am assuming it's not the same colour coding and wiring configuration ie red, white, white.

Hi Ian ,been there. Actually retired from security work which I did when I couldn't do my other jobs on regular basis. On some sites I could actually do some modelling. I ended up as sales manager for one company by title but wore lots of hats in reality.I would think you could do the conversion at work if it was that sort of site. It would pass the time.

Anything will fly given enough power

Well guy's I can finally bring this thread to a close, I finally got the conquest FP working again today, it was the switch.
After several minutes switching the on/off switch back and forth it sprung to life.
Tried it a couple more times it was intermittently working. The more I used the switch the more it improved.
I have ordered some switch cleaner and will do a proper job stripping it down when that arrives.
At least I tracked the problem down and now have a second 35mhz transmitter. Pleased as I actually like the feel of this transmitter when I used it in the past.
Time for a new thread.

Reading another article on 2.4ghz conversion on a Futaba T6EX it recommends fitting a schottky diode between the ppm signal out wire on the TX to the Corona ppm input.
This protects the hack module from being over powered by the ppm source voltage of the transmitter.
Sounds sensible but it doesn't state what size diode used wrt Current or voltage. Any ideas ?
Ian

We're talking milliamps here Ian, anything that will take 200mA and 50volts will be fine, ie the smallest one you can find!

Thanks for that info.
I am seriously considering the Corona 2.4 ghz conversion now, less than £30 that includes the hack module antenna and a receiver.
Just got to figure out the connections now for a Futaba T6EX transmitter. It suggests using the original RF board and gives a description but no photos of the board and the correct connections ?
apparently the manual for the Corona mod suggests using an oscilloscope to work out the PPM connection.
Got rid of mine many years ago had no use for it anymore.

Hi Ian, as far as I'm concerned the T6EX is 2.4gig. However when push comes to shove I will open one of mine up and give you the correct connections.

T6EX is already on 2.4 FASST technology.

I have seen some T6ex models that are 2.4ghz assumed they had already been modified. Maybe I assumed wrongly.
However, there are some up for sale cheaply that are 35mhz. I was planning to get one as a winter project to get me into 2.4ghz, even if it's just for electric models to begin with. Keeping my other two 35mhz transmitters for my IC powered trainer and the other for my electric glider.
Thanks I would appreciate the help.

Ah might have solved the puzzle the model I was looking at is the T6EXA 35MHZ.
I assume the prefix A at the end is the clue ?

Think I had better hold off on my decision regarding a 2.4ghz set up. Maybe it's time to back off a little and get back into flying again with my 35mhz gear .
Then I can probably make a more informed decision regarding an off the shelf set versus a second hand set or the upgrade mod.
My enthusiasm at the moment is out weighing my common sense and my budget.
