Reading back on one of your previous posts Sarah, i notice you say you will poss go with electric cos its safer. Im not sure I understand the reason for you saying this, as without proper instruction, nothing much is safe these days.
Dont be lulled into thinking that just because it is a battery powered prop it is safer than an i/c powered prop. IT ISNT. An i/c prop striking your hand will poss stop the engine, not so with electric. If an electric prop hits your hand it will try harder and harder to turn. There are advantages and disadvantages in both elec and i/c. I prefered electric when I returned to the hobby, and have never regretted it. But that was my preference

lol you guys do cheer me up, have chuckled though all those posts- thank you :)

Ok if I miss anyone out in answering your posts please accept my apologies- tis not intentionally I assure you more am not good at multitasking (oh boy, bet that opens the flood gates haha)
Poly have heard of a buddy box and am hoping the club i eventually go to has such an option because that will help me with my confidence knowing I cant crash it lol. Am saving now as dont want to go join a club before I have enough money to buy equipment, pay fees and insurance in one go (I know what I am like, have no patience so to go,fly the 3 allowed spaces then find I cant do more cos cant afford equipment- will be gutted lol) hence why I thought I could get a sim and practice safely first. I am not that far from LLandudno I dont think bout an hour and a half- that where you all go to fly? With regards to the DX5e was going for the DX6i DSMX because it is all singing and dancing I do believe however someone on the other forum suggested I get the other cheaply, cant remember why now but like I said- I am brand new to this, all this is still techo whizzy stuff but I will learn, am a fast learner (if memory slow a tad lol) so all advice welcome.
Upside smiley coupled with the landing is prolly going to be apt for me rofl. I had an RC helicopter- I loved flying it but landing, well erm.... was a lot of search and rescue missions to find it again

admin willow/sarah either or I dont mind :) and that bit of multitasking i can do- put on kettle, brew AND read the destruction's hehe, its in the genes :woohoo:

Eric I thought exactly the same with regards to Rumor, Karen Carpenter brought back to life- beautiful sounding voice. Erm grooming- what with brushes, sponges and talcum powder? oooo my lol am getting pampered already (runs and hides lol). Re the other forum- it wasnt the one with the magazine, it wasnt RCME but another letter of the alphabet. They were lovely people to be honest (although you guys have to admit have been more friendly) so I dont have a bad word to say about them, my ban was unjustified and (I think done so without proper consideration to the facts) due to my posting too many posts in non RC areas and not enough in RC- despite explaining I cant post in RC too much as am new to it! But no matter, not putting me off wanting to learn to fly.

Kamcokid I know of 2 girlie flyers myself but have never spoken to them, maybe they are the same? Both I think were on the other forum.

whis1962 whats an autopilot? lol ok ok , dont take the mick now cos I know what it MEANS just not what it REFERS to with regards to RC hehehhehe

Garry I dont think the RC world is ready for letting me lose on the I/C and nitro yet!! that would involve chemicals and me lol- trust me, not good combo (yet) lol Am sticking to the KISS principle for now, what I know about IC/ nitro/2 stroke and 4 stroke can be fitted on a stamp. BUT that doesn't mean that in the future I might wander over to the "dark side" muhahaha. Electric just seems the safer option for me (although have seen what a lipo battery can do when overcharged and blows up! :silly:

To everyone posting though, those I might have missed, those that I didn't- thank you so much, your input is very much welcome and I will get more active as my spoke placements dry up (work, gets in the way of play lol)

Hi willowy Sarah, firdtly an IC engine barks at you so it helps remind you thats its a hungry finger eater if your not careful and respect it,whereas the electric is the one that can catch you out. But,the rigmerol of equipement and learning to start an IC engine is the thing. When I first started I flew electric. And 80% of models sold now are electric,so you can see the trend.I was introduced to IC by a club member who didnt believe in electric. When I first acquired my first IC I was really exited. But when I arrived at the field unloaded my equipement thats when the difficult part began.Im not normally tidy. But it was a case of being tidy and going through a list in your head.Restrainer in the ground, start battery to the right at the front of the model, connect the starter to the batterythe right way round.Gallon of fuel out to the right by the battery, fuel pump at the ready, glow start at the ready,Trans, itter within easy reach without reaching over model.Removebung from fuyel filler tube, fil model watch for fuel overflow for tank full.Remember to fit bung back in.Turn Transmitter on 1st then model, check everything is functioning ok,all controls.Ensure fuel is reaching carb,If not, full throttle finger over carb to suck fuel to carb.Make sure the glow start is not on. Now we have fuel to the carb we can use the starter to start the engine.Connect glow start, touch of throttle ,connect starter and turn engine usually starts straight away, occassionally needs a bit of adjustment. When its running and warming and youve removed the glow start, rev the engine and tune it to the weather conditions, but often the engine is tuned ok and you can here from the sound if its ok.let it tickover ensuring its not stalling. When I first was learning to do this when the engine was running nicely all I wanted to do is switch it off ,pack up ,and go home.As far as I was concerned I had achieved my goal and was so mentally drained with going through my mental list of safety to ensure wires didnt touch, nothing was near the turning prop and I had started it with no mishaps,I just wanted a nice relaxed sit down. But,no,there was my instructor eagar for us to fly the model, standing over me like a sergeant major. So,now here I was, with dodgy kneses picking up this roaring beast and carrying it to the flight line. Now its all second nature and I love it.Actually for you if you get the right club, like ours, there would be a que of helpers all lined up to do it all for you..So yes your right,to start with electric is the way to start,it has its dangers but vigilance, safety and being awrare of the problems that can happen with electric and avoiding them makes flying electric easier and safer, and we are here to help you through these first stages, from choosin the model, and th right equipement to ensure you spend your money wisely.

Blimey Beard, with all that messing about, how do you find any time to fly??

Let me list the electric way
Arrive at pitts, and unload flight box. Place model on flight box and fix wings, 30 secs. Put in lipo making sure model is switched off, as it should be from last session. Make sure TX is turned on to the correct model, switch on model, wait 10 secs to allow ESC to fire up, check all controls, take a safety check round, Take off and fly. That is the electric way, and that is wh,y I get an average of 10 flights in a session. Time from arriving in Pitts to model take off if no chatting, is I would say 6 mins
