I've just started a thread in Building, and realised that we're not starting at the beginning! Without a proper board your model is not going to be straight, and if it isn't straight it's never going to fly well! [attachment] Ok, this is a building board, and, you may find it expensive! Without it...

For the benefit of any newbies I would like use to go through the basics of landing a model. I know there may be differences depending on the type of model ect. What realistic advice would you give to a beginner wanting to learn to land?

That applies to any aircraft (except grass-strimmers!) - land on the main legs. With a tail-wheel model, try to touch on all three - and arrive at the stall - at the same time. A lot of these imported ARTF's have plastic wire for the leg anyway, one landing - bend it back into place! You have to...

The only way that I know of to make a model safe is to buy, or make yourself a dedicated lead, which is inserted between lipo and ESC which incorperates an isolating plug. When making parts for a model it's always better to cut the part slightly long and then sand it to final size. [attachment] [attachment] Doing it this way ensures the ends will be square, somehow, even using a cutting box, I never quite manage it! While you're at it, unless the part is...

As Grumps said - sanding along the leading edge, rather than across, gives a better profile, with no little accidental steps in it. Try to cover the whole length in one pass, not loads of little strokes, you want to sand the shape in, not get it excited! (Can I put that without getting told off?)
