Mr Perserverance was created by The Beard
May I introduce all beginners to Mr Perseverance,a collegue whose assistance is needed from time to time. Its a fair assumption in Model flying that from time to time things go wrong for a multitude of reasons and as a beginner the culprit if often the pilot. But also sometimes something goes wrong with the model, but as beginners we do not recognise exactly what happened,it all beong to quick and often accept the responsibility.I had some failures,to me unexplained, but then had 3 where I was accompanied by one of the club experts and they assured me I had lost signal and the lodel had gone down without my assistance. The first day I arrived at my new club flying field,as I walked to the flying area the first model I saw was an 8 ft,wingspan big yellow cub.The owner I believed was very important because he had a spot all to himself on the opposite side to the pitts. His name was Eddie, and in fact he was there to run in a new engine away from the pitts because of the noise..Eddie was part of a small group of glider pilots and he used theCub as a tug towing the gliders in a fairly haphazard way arriving back quicklyand landing haphazardly also whilst they all tended to stand in a group and the end of the strip preventing the rest of us from flying, until several shouts of "Taking Off" moved them. After I had become more experienced,I arrived at the field woth my Mew beautiful Seagull PC9,in gleaming Red.Unknown to me in a few minutes I wa going to be intruduced to Yes,Mr Perseverence.Being an electrified model it was quickly readied for its maiden flight,my first. With an expert by my side for support and encouragement i proudly carried my pride and joy to the take off area.Checks had been made and all systems were go for lift off.I gave it some power it taxied and more power was fed in as it sped down the strip. My expert called more eleveator, and she rose 18" and plughed off the strip disappearing into the 2 feet long grass at the end.No problem just get my model. When I arrived I found the canopy in tact. The rest was absolutley totalled.I carried my plastic bag towards my car head bowed.Someone was by my side,Eddie,He put an arm round my shoulder and said "now let me introduce you to Mr Perseverance,we all do it,Dont let it upset you.If you put something in the air sometimes it all goes wrong, then you need to persevere because with his help you get through those times and the great days will follow.
