Caprice Reworked for 2-ch RC was created by raypalin
Just completed my lockdown labour, the beautiful classic Keil Kraft Caprice glider, built from a Vintage Model Company kit. I have adapted it -- taking advice from many previous postings -- for unpowered 2-channel RC (elevator and rudder).
The stabiliser I've redesigned to incorporate a hinged elevator, while preserving the Caprice cruciform structure,
and the rudder is enlarged to provide greater authority. Two PowerHD micro servos and a Planet RX are located within the narrow fuselage underneath the wings and power provided by 4 AAA cells futher forward, immediately aft of the cockpit.
Semi-flexible snakes inboard connect the moving control surfaces. The model balances out at 240gm with batteries. For ease of transport, I've made the original 1300 mm wing separable as well as removable, the two halves joined by a 5mm dia carbon fibre rod extending through the innermost three ribs each side.
This project has certainly enjoyably passed a good deal of enforced time indoors, but I'm itching to see if will fly as soon as restrictions end and life hopefully returns to normal.

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

I built one many ( must be 55/60 years ago ) it disappeared on its maiden flight never to be seen again, well by me anyway, last seen heading towards Newark, it was launched on Cranwel airfield
So dont forget to fit a DT on it,
