Not sure where to start this so please move if needed.

I was given this Turman Models BF ME109 today by a friend at work.A quick google led me to this forum after reading the thread about the son of Roy Scott collecting and repairing one of these 109's.
Sadly the thread hasn't had any replies since March 2016,I've also emailed Steve Scott, the son,but not had any reply as of yet.
I know nothing about RC planes at all,I fly a drone, badly!
The plane came with 2 sets of wings and some retractable under carriage. It's never flown so unsure if there's any mounting points for an engine etc.
I'm wondering if it's worth getting it airworthy etc?Any pointers/info much appreciated

Not wishing to sound negative but given the almost complete absence of any information on the Turman Bf109 kit I would suggest that it would need an experienced model builder to get it into flying condition.
In addition a 'warbird' like a 109 is not recommended for an inexperienced flyer.
I fear it would have to be a long term project to give yourself time to acquire the necessary building and flying skills.
Just my opinion.

Yes, I agree - you have bitten off a lot more than you can chew, with this one.
A scale model is not a forgiving one, and the 109, like the Spitfire - another popular and misguided choice - is a particularly tricky little beast.
As a comparison you might understand, it is like going for your first ever driving lesson in a formula 1 car, amd not a 'shopping car'!
-
Roy Scott passed away a long time ago - I used to use his shop on the East Lancs road! (Assuming we are talking of the same Roy Scott)
I've not seen any Turman models advertised for a LONG time, so spares will almost certainly be unobtainable.
As it has been in storage, in unkown conditions, for a long time, the structure and adhesives may be suspect, as well. The wood may be brittle, possibly warped, and the adhesives used could be failing.
-
This model would be best hanging from your ceiling, to be admired - if you can find the parts to visually complete it.

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

I appreciate the replies and agree with everything.
Would I be wasting my time sticking an ad up in the for sale section?

Darren, time on this site is never wasted! When placing the advertisement please give the wing span, total length and approximate current weight. A picture with the cowl off and inverted with the wing off would also be a great help.

Do it now, you may never get another chance

That’s what led me to here after I searched for info and no it’s not the same one as this has never flown etc

How many servos -
Four for the primary controls, rudder, elevator ailerons, throttle - or maybe five if you go for individual aileron drives, which is the norm these days.
Plus one or two for flaps - as above.
Plus a retract servo for the undercarriage. (see note below)
The size of servo - without knowing the dimensions and weight of the model, it's hard to tell.
The same for the engine and prop size. It depends! It would be a fairly powerful one, to get the appropriate flight performance or you get the equivalent of a mini engine trying to move an artic truck!
-
Cost - at a guess, using standard servos, nothing fancy, about £20 each - retract servo about £25, unless you go for the so-called servo-less retracts, which in reality have the servo built in to the mechanism, not a separate unit and a tangle of push-rods and lots of fiddling, to make them work.
The engine - I'm all electric, so don't know what the prices are like, but assuming it wants a .60 equivalent - so £100 upwards.
Prop to suit - somewhere around £15 each.

BUT

then you need the radio gear to make it all work - so add another £300. There are cheaper ones, but, as in all things, you get what you pay for! Your 'drone' gear probably would not be suitable.

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

As preciously mentioned, some pictures and measurements would be good, it would be a help to see how the engine bay has been fitted out.

That's a bigger model than I thought!
You are going to need more powerful servos than standard, and something like a Lazer 120 for the engine!
So roughly - double the prices I gave earlier - maybe three times, the way things have shot up in costs recently!
