So after 4 months of waiting the Nemesis finally got to the field. An akward day because we discovered that the complaining bitch from hell our neighbour of some 600 metres away had arranged for thr Environment representatives were going to be at her house to check out her noisey model aircraft club next door. But we were not stopped flying because of this so the Nemesis had her first flight in an age.At after the first hiccup where it deadsticked on take off, landing unscathed,it performed well.I had 5 flights the take offa were excellant and the landings were all good, getting better each time the final one being perfect.I ran out of fuel then so wasnt able to continue. The wind was blustery and through the model about in the air and you had to get the Nemesis down low to land it.Back to the bitch, true to form she was blatantly rude and abusive to everyone including the Officers from the council, who werent too impressed by her and her complaints. They also felt even if we were flying in her zone the models were very quiet. We do not fly in her zone a couple of experts were asked to fly over there for the environment guys to see what the models sounded like.

I have to say the Nemesis takes off very easily but is a handfull for me in the air compared with the Zlin. The Nemesis is extremely fast, very responsive even though I have the ailerons at 50% andlots of fun to fly.Its very controllable but takes loads to slow it down to land.Today the wind was straight down the strip and a great help. The Nemesis will be of great help to me to become better at flying the Zlin

You are of course absolutely right, and ive been searching for THAT model for a while. The last one of course was the Pulse followed by the Harmon Rocket, and ive been missing the ONE since.I was hoping that the Nemesis would be the next one but it hasnt worked out that way.It started with the under carriage falling off unless the landing was perfect.I kept modifying it until I finally seemed to have cracked it then the whole front end fell off.But then I do like flying the vintage 3 channel models as well.Plus the other models I like to fly from time to time. But,that special one has not come along yet plus I do need to continue my develop[ment as a flyer, without pushing the boundaries to quickly,.As you say some people arrive at the strip 3,4 times a week with the same model time after time after time. There is one old fart on this forum who constantly flies vitually one model up to 16 times in 1 flying session, boring!!!

3 good flights with the Nemesis and 3 good landings. On the 4th take off it all went dreadfully wrong. As I took off it went a bit left,no problem but vseemed to take much longer to actually leave the ground,at the point of no return it took to the air but caught the top of the long grass, which turned it left.If it had turned it right OK left No no no,ever the optamist I kept it on full throttle but it shot into the biggest tree with several bangs and crashes.Same tree as the Harmon Rocket, whih was matchwood afterwards.Walking to the scene of the "landing",my collegue Ray appeared with a crooked hat, specs asque, and a bit of a frightened look with a complete Nemesis in hand. Now I admit it takes a lot of skill to fly a model throught the middle of an oak tree and land it in the car paek 4 feet from a mate but thats the level of skill I just havent attained. There is on bite mark between2 ribs and a missing bit ofleading edge and thats it amazing

The Nemesis has been shaken up a bit,so Ive spent the day repairing it,and hope to get it flyable.I think the U/C must have hit something because that was loose but the fuselage had gone not the mount.I was able to reinforce the mount some more because the fuselage balsa had broken and needed replacing.

Only real issue now is to repair both front wing mounts where the bolts go through thr side of ther fuselage to hold the wing.Ive come up with an easy solution, which I though up last night, then there a small dent on the leading edge of a wing to do,then cover the repairs.Everything is in the car to go flying but its started raininh so I may carry on with the Nemesis

When I removed the wings the aluminium tube was bent and the front wing bolt supports had torn out, also the under carriage was damaged but I repaired that and strengthened the side of the fuselage

I'd repair that by cutting a "blue foam" block and sanding to shape. . Sheet it with overly thick balsa so the whole thing will fit like a plug.
Then sand the thickness of the sheet down flush with the wing.

How do you plan on doing it?

Pol.

I just own the forum .... you guys make it great thanks.

The covering is completed,I used B and Q,light filler to finish off.Ive repaired one wing mount and have 1 more to do which Im going to do now.Havent got the aluminium tube perfectly straight so once the wins are on theyll stay there. This will be its last repairas thr fuselage is getting a bit tired and repairs are turning up everywhere, but itll be ready to fly by the end of tonight.
