Flair Pupeteer was created by Dean M
I am waiting to go to the Local model shop to pick up some piano wire for my kavalier and I just can't get the enthusiasm up for the deagostini spitfire.
soooooo I decided to make a start on my Pupeteer, the wings are built slightly different to how I have built wings before, the capping strips and lower centre sheeting are pinned down on the plan first, then the spars laid on top and then the ribs.
Anyway a picture!! Please ignore the tin I store my pins in, it has a west highland terrier in a Santa hat on the lid

They do look a bit thin don't they, they are 2mm liteply. I may try and beef up where the undercarriage mounts it doesn't look to strong!!!
Will take plenty of pictures as I progress, I'm not a very fast builder though

Just make a couple of ribs fron birch ply for each wing where the ondercarriage fittings go. :)

There is nothing like a dream to create the future.

Has anyone had one of these or a simular size bi plane? I ask because i wonder if it fitted in your car fully rigged up, I can get my wot4 in my car with wings on but that is about 8" smaller wingspan.

Done a little bit more to this.
Not to much left to do on the Port lower wing panel capping strips on top of the ribs, cut out the aileron, fit the wing tip and then some sanding!!

Made a start on the starboard lower wing panel

I think the wood quality is fantastic.
It is a a good learning curve for me as there is no build instructions as such, just notes on the plans and some smaller sheets with notes on but no step by step instructions.
It seems a bit different, building the ribs on top of the centre section sheeting and lower capping strips.

Very neat Dean
I suppose done this way does ensure the bottom is flat (and stays that way!) as everything structural will be in place before the wing is lifted from the board.
Keep posting.

How can we answer this one? ... it depends on the size of your car..... I'm fortunate in that I've got a Citroen C4 Grand Picasso 7 seater & you could get a coffin in the back
It looks like a great build Dean, just keep at it, & if you have to buy a new car ..... then it's a damn good excuse :)

I have a old banger of a car a hyundai accent I use for work bought it 2 years ago for £600, in October it failed the MOT needed £300 of work so it was decision time fix it or get another banger, I was looking for a focus estate, however it was a case of better the devil you know it has been super reliable and never lets me down so decide it was worth the 300 to fix it.
Maybe next year I will get an estate :)

mentioning coffins made me think a hearse would be a perfect model carrier

I was able to get 2 biplanes in my Surf its a perfect choice of vehicle for models and because its 4wd even now can take it into the field and unload.I dont like putting biplanes together so was able to put them in ready to fly.I find the Surf a perfect choice ,love the vehicle.
