Sky, that Cdi ignition is the same as I have, at wide open it draws about 360mA, which can flatten the RX battery quite quickly. Can I suggest you give it a separate battery?

Good on yer mate, you'll find 4.8volts is better for the Cdi, it draws much less current and works just as well. Somewhere I saw a recommendation that you should only use 4.8v on Cdi.

The actual cdi unit, or the sensor?
The cdi unit can go just about anywhere that the wires will fit, if you provide a bit of cooling airflow. It is basically just a couple of transistors charging up a capacitor, which when switched on, triggers the spark. (That's a very crude explanation, before anyone leaps on me!)
The sensor should have a precise locating mount already on the engine. The spot it is placed depends on where the trigger magnet is on the crankshaft, and that acts like the points in your petrol car, telling the cdi when to 'fire' the plug.

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

Eric, if you look at the pic you can see the sensor's already mounted. A bit of airflow would be good for the Cdi unit, but they don't get that hot. Get the Rx as far away from it as possible! I'd say a good place is between the engine and the tank.
