y Hunter repairs / painting
I decided to get this ready for November 14th when we start the jet flying again
Took one look at what I had done in it and decided it needed all stripping out and starting again so that's what I have done
Had to make some additions to the stand as I needed to split the fuselage again
The fuel tanks are to small that's supplied with the model at 1800 ml in each one so I had added a Dubro 1200 ml when I first did it
but it did not fill all the space available being standard tank, so I decided to custom build one
Soooo never built one before, question was how, out came the blue foam and I made it to fit the opening in the former

Made a rebate around the rim of one half
And added a tongue to the other half
Put two layers of glass fibre over both halves,
I will now sand it down polish it and spray it with mould release, give it a couple or four layers on top of that, and when it gone off destroy the plug from inside, as I want the finished side to be inside the tank

Anyway I decided I could not leave it, so we will see what a mess I can make of a beautiful model
I keyed the area and filled with P38 filler
spent a lot of time rubbing it down and putting the detail lines back it, ready to paint now  I really don't do good painting :S
The fuel tank has come out ok
And it holds 2.7 lts filled the two halves with water this morning, but not including the 20mm lip that fits in the other half
Worked on the nose wheel steering, when I did it first time the only way I could see of getting it to work was with the servo on a bracket and wires to the nose leg
But the answer was so simple, I mounted the servo on top of the leg with two pins from the servo horn to behind the leg
so it is free to retract forward :silly:
Sorry not good photos

Even if it only degrades very slowly any release is likely to block the fuel filter.

If I recall, someone at my club repaired a cracked petrol tank on a strimmer with epoxy - but the petrol dissolved it over a period of time. Whether Jet A1 would is not clear.
