What's a fudder?? 
Side or down-thrust on a ducted fan is a pretty vague thing, as the jet flow doesn't go where you expect anyway, a bit like gyroscopic precession in a helicopter rotor!
With Simon's model, off-centre thrust could be added, but if it had a long exhaust tube, it would have no effect at all, except maybe slow down the through-flow.
