Tony,

That does look like it needs attention, even if you have taken a chunk out, it may need deep stitches to heal properly.

Been watching your builds, shame to see this. Never heard of Futaba doing anything like reversing a channel or losing a bind, but those electric props are nasty.

Heal quickly chap.

Regards

Simon (fellow turbine addict!!)

Hhmmmmm. I've had a similar problem with Spektrum as well as Futaba.

In the full size world, we always treat props as live and teach that one should NEVER walk or place any part of your body within the prop disk......There are exceptions, such as when hand starting or turning over by hand to check for hydraulicing, but appropriate precautions are taken. Maybe we ought to follow similar lines with electric props?

Hi Andy
I was actuly standing behind the wing BUT i had the thing on the bench, first mistake, when it opened up i grabed the wing just on instinct and it swung round and bit me
But you are right i did not take enough care over what i was doing, it could have been worse if it had dived down a bit OOoooooo
Anyway had a good nights sleep its ok this morning, im keeping it open as its more comfortable and i heal quickly so not a problem
I ran it again this morning with a Vox 14 x 7 wood prop 4 s lipo got 8000 revs and 6lb thrust so well pleased with that, as the model is 5lbs
Have to say these G Shark XHY motors realy are very good and at a good price
So i will maiden it in the morning weather permiting
Just going to finish Revolver V7 and it will also go in the morning

If it is over 6mm then general rule is GO SEE YOUR DOC MR STUBBORN :P  :P cos it is gonna need something, either stitches, steristrips but defo a covering of something. But if you don't want to go fair enough :) Will say this though, you really need to keep it clean, don't use any antiseptic creams as these tend to kill the leukocyte cells which are the bodies own bacterial defence, and the fibroblast cells which will be help form the new skin. You can use an antibacterial solution but to be honest Just use simple tap water, or if you tap water is iffy out there bottled water or some saline solution if you can get it? Even a bit of salt in water will do it, you don't need fancy soloutions. You need to keep it clean that's really important cos you don't want an infection especially with it being so deep. Wounds heal faster in a moist environment, a bit like a skating rink- cells heal faster if they have something to skate upon :P They can grow, divide and move about the surface faster if it is kept moist. It will also reduce pain as it will protect the nerve endings and reduce scarring. Buit you need something that is nonadherent and doesn't stick to the wound, the chemist may have something you can use.
Really would recommend a doc though Tony, cos I am only a student and the experts know best. keeping it moist is the best option but you have to watch for it getting macerated which is where the skin breaks down cos it has got too wet or any signs of infection. Plus they can keep an eye on any exudate (fluid) and whether it is clear, pus etc- all the dead cell stuff.

Also check your last tetnus jab, you may need another! :woohoo: And eat a good diet, no one ever thinks about that being important to wound healing- you need lots of protein as skin is made of protein and you need extrawhen you are injured so your body can manufacture immune cells and antibodies, reduce inflammation and to mend the wound and reduce the risk of infection. Vit C and Vit A are good too, helps with the creation of collagen in the skin and control inflammation.

Dont eat chocolates, they are very bad for a wound- you will have to send ALL chocolates to me so as to resist temptation

(that last bits a joke by the way hehe!)

Looks like you're on a learning curve with the molding BB. I suspect you need a few products that are not available in Cyprus.
First you need to paint the inside of the mold with a gloss varnish, at least two coats with a rub down in between. Looking at your finished item I suspect your surface was too porous. Then you need a 'release agent' you probably can't get this but you could try a Yacht builders. You could try some cook spray but it won't work if there's any porosity. In reality very few of the spray waxes will work. If you can't get release agent then buy some candles, mix the wax with parafin until you have a thickish paste and use that! It's a local trick that our cleaning ladies use on cement floors. Absolutely lethal when wet! Ask me how I know! :( Then you need some 'Gel coat', roughly the finish colour you need. So, Varnish, followed by release agent, followed by gel coat. Then you can start applying matting and resin.
Another thing, check your mould carefully, if you have parallel sides then your item is not going to come out, you need about .5 degree taper, or more. If you can't tolerate that then you're going to have to make a two part mould!
Nasty wound that, go to the ER and get it stitched!

Do it now, you may never get another chance

It still certainly looks like it nedds medical attention.I bashed between my little finger and forth finger years ago .It was agony and had it dangling in icy water. After a few days my hand was black and blue.Went to hospital and I had broken my hand.

BB, a while back, I posted a how-to for making glass fibre items, but I can't find it! It's in here somewhere.

I had a dream last night (aint it sad when your dreams even feature something to do with modelling rofl!) and for some reason it was about modelling clay/plastacine- you know the sort you then bake in the oven? Was wondering if that could be used to make moulds?
