With her delicious Mince Pies,oh yes please Alan, however there is the problem of ditance so to appease us all I will continue.
First job to ease myself in was to remove the servos and engine from the Travel air
The engine is relevant, its a Thunder Tiger Pro 46.
The relevance is ,it was the first engine I bought myself and a Christmas present to myself for Xmas 2008
so thats the engine I am fitting.A quick clean with a kitchen Roll tissue has it sparkling.
The only problem Ive ever had with this engine is an easy fix.Where the nipple for fuel fits sometimes debris accumalates and reduces fuel flow. But this part is easily unscrewed and allows access to remove the blockage.Goodness knows where it comes from as everything is filtered.

So the next job was to find a battery and switch,so another trip to the shed and brought the 2 of them up.
They fit in the centre of the wing, the battery in the wing ,the switch on a panel that screws in the middle of the wing.

Is the fuel new? could it be the fuels getting on a bit, and wood fibers are building up? good sieve should take care of that, the TTPro series are a very very undervalued engine, twin ball raced, great carb, they are streets ahead of the plain bore series,

Yes fuel is always fairly fresh, buy it once a year at Blackbushe. Its Southern Fuels 10%.Only this engine suffers.

How do you get wood fibres into a bottle of fuel, Alan?

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

Easy, take the top off and pour it in,when the owner you hate isnt looking. Its more like fibre thet looks like wire wool, but it doesnt take much does it.

i had the same problem a few years ago Eric, nipple kept getting clogged up with what looked like wood fibres, a friend of mine more into the chemical side of things said methanol gets fibres in it, i just stuck with the wood fibre description, i sieved mine, and had quite a lot of what did indeed look like wood fibres, i should have said fibres, not wood fibres, but fibres there where
