Building bench cleaned off, and the wing plan laid out, umm there is a lot of work here, first things first, glue R 3,4 and 5 rib doublers in place, strip down some 1/4" sheet for the spars and add main spar to the build... now wait for the glue to set/dry
till next time

It' s upright so you blokes can see it down under it's horizontal :woohoo: :P :P :P :P :P
Well what a right bloody mess this plan is, first the fuz formers , most, not correct, now the some of the rib are wrong.
Ok as you can see in vertical pic, ribs and spar all pined down the building board, which is new and flat,, taking a steel 1 mt rule, from root to tip there is a 5/16 "see-saw" action at the ends, W 3,4,5 and 6 all need to be sanded down appropriatly, which means the top spar, at these ribs is also reduced in thickness, what a bloody mess
Explanation, either rib sizeing on plan is wrong or I have woof in the B/board one would trip over, (that one I will discount),
I actually removed the whole frame work and checked the bottom with a straight edge, nope that's flat,
The building instructions says "pin lower wing spar flat on board" there is nothing in regards to the wing having an anhedral, taper from W6 to tip    all of the ribs have building tabs on their ends, so they must sit flat, I checked each rib to the plan, yep they have been cut to exactly what is given
SO it is now a case of sanding down those above ribs.

According to this 3 view the 335 wing does appear to have a dihedral break just outboard of the main wheels. The underside of the wing looks to be flat so the top spar will have a kink in it at that point.

Is this what your errant ribs are trying to achieve?

Q, yes on that view it does appear to have a slight dihedral at that point, but my "errant" ribs ribs in layout form, it goes the other-way, anhedral, starting at about rib3, of the 3 books I have, none of the constructed planes, show an adhedral or anhedral, even ft-on views show a "flat surface on both top and bottom, so that is the way i shall go,.... strange hey
Thanks for the info, good to get another's point of view

Well I finally shaped down the wing panel lines to suit, pic 1
Now with the

other wing, I am taking a different attack, you can see from the pics, where the problem lays, with the ribs 1 and 8 on the the plan, and a line taken from the main spar position, rib 5 is way out, I temp. put others in their place and yep there is a incorrect height on most, yet at the L/E they all are within 1 or 2mm which I could handle,
Do I leave the tabs on them, and adj. the upper surface down, ??
The underneath

line on the first wing panel also needed correcting, but I kept ribs 1 and 8 the basis of the line, I'm a little happeir that I fixed that one.... now

the other one .... errr

Thanks Garry
Well I've slept on the problem, and this is my conclusion,
W1 and W9 in place, all of the ribs I will leave the tabs on and match up to the rear spar and L.E
bottom main spar tapered to match the ribs ( w9) glued to1 and 9
Rear spar in place
L.E glued on, and the rest to be fitted to match and sand to the required profile
the ply dihedral braces I will fit last
this may take a bit longer, but at least I will end up with a wing without a bloody great dogs leg in it (woof woof)
So does that sound like a solution???
in between that i will play around with my new 14SG

After several cups of caffine, I got it sorted, but the line was still out by 5/16" at rib 5. i followed my idea's and tapered the bottom main spar and set it up with the rib tabs flush on the board ( pic wing panel)
Now as the sun is setting, I have won, altho the top profile will now have to sanded to match the profile, that's tomorrows project
Pic 3 and 6 you can see what i was up against, I could have done better using the "sandwhich method" uummmm ,
Strange idea the centre is it says to sue jig to angle rib 1, on each panel, but there is no way that the 2 ribs 1 will meet, there is a gap in the centre of the 2 panels about 4" wide to accomadate servos the 3 dihredral braces 'marry the 2 panels up, so why subject rib 1 on the angle
crap plan that's all I can say... idiot designer must have been on the soup when he drew this up
Cheers
barry
