My thinking exactly! A friend sent me the link but he's not a modeller. When I taught him to fly I had to keep taking control back from him as he kept getting into impossible situations. After about 5 mins I landed and did what I should have done in the first place. I held the model and told him to move the sticks. About 10 seconds in I realised he was pushing forward for climb! It took me the rest of the week to re-train him!
Funny you should mention 'push to climb'.
There was a rather nice computer game where you could be in a Lancaster rear gun turret to attempt to destroy opposing night fighters. The joy stick controlled the gun sight. It was quite realistic for the time but the programmer had set it so that gun sight "down" required "pull back" on the joy stick!
Even with my then youthful reflexes I never really got used to it, particularly as you could also be the pilot where the joy stick worked conventionally!
Maybe two different programmers were involved.
