Beautiful model in lovely condition.Purchased from the governor recently an he demonstrated it to me.At home fitted a receiver all set and ready to fly.At the field it all went wrong ,the speed controller has come out of programme .Various procedures carried out to no success.Even when it bleeps to tell you its programmed it doesn't stay in Programme > No problem a new one is only £20 but after phoning 3 shops to be told wrong information purchased a 25 amp controller from Steve Webb models after Kings Lynn tols me I needed an 80 amp lots of laughs so one is in post

25 amp speedo? That's pretty small!
Have you run the motor at full power with a WATTMETER in line?
I'd have put the 80 amp speedo in. If you have too much power available, it won't blow up in flight! Don't forget - if the speedo fails - so will the bec, and then the radio won't work either.
My 40 amp speedo carries 400 Watts at full chat, and is a bit marginal, but as the model only needs 250 Watts for dozy flying, and 300 for aero's, it is only working hard for about fifteen seconds - for take-off.

if you are calm and collected when all about you are going berserk - you've missed something important!

Must say I missed the reference to size of ESC. As Eric says 25 A is far too small and will blow as soon as throttle is opened. I would have thought the best idea would be to remove the old one and replace with like size, as that one that was in has run this model for 2 yrs.

Well that will teach me not to post till I have checked. The PNP version has a 22 A ESC installed, and we are saying 25 A is too small ???? However, my advise stands. Look at the one that has failed and replace with same.

That is probably enough, but with only a three amp 'headroom'. It wouldn't take much to push it over the top.
As I put, a WATTMETER will tell you just how much the motor/prop/battery combo is producing, and as a more powerful speedo is a mere few grammes heavier - - -
Draw your own conclusions. :P

so Eric explain to me how I check the watts which I can do if it doesnt function.I would have fitted like for like but someone glued the valcro over the esc label snd wont come off withour destroying the label.I took advise from Steve Webb Models my 3rd choice as the previous 2 couldnt help. The 890kv motor works out at20 amp so we went 5amps higher

I tend to put the Velcro on the flat side which unfortunately is the side the label is on LOL
However, this does surprise me on here with the eagle eyes we have, that no one has noticed the error on the header of this thread. It isnt a Hanger 9 product, its an E flight product :woohoo: :woohoo:

Beardy, I thought you meant that the old speedo worked, but wouldn't stay programmed, and had to be reset each time you plugged in. :S
H9 vs Efright - I hadn't looked it up on the shop listings, so I didn't notice, Garry!

As you know if you read other threads , Stephen, I am doing a garage refit. During this I have come across the manual that came with the Mini Pulse, which gives you throws , c of g etc, so if you PM me your address I will drop it in the post for you
