My genuine (as in came with the motor) modela props have SW moulded into them, so yours are correct Chris. It may be MS though...

Very Interesting article in AM about oils for use in CO2 Motors Nigel.

So sewing machine oil is the best the way to go. Where would the Labelle 108 fit into your tests I wonder ? I'm guessing as a light synthetic it would be similar to your RC car test sample ? and therefore not as good at low temperatures as good old sewing machine oil ?

I will certainly keep the 3in1 for shed padlocks after reading your results.

Albion Alloys in Bournemouth do 0.5mm copper tube, and say they supply R&D establishments, so their minimum order may not be too outrageous.

Did you hear of the "Johnathon" me del using a pop bottle as an air tank, 200,psi, compressed air.

If interested I will find a way of posting it on here, an aeromodeller article etc..

I remember the Johnathon came with a plastic `Z` air motor similar to the airhogs models that came out about 10 years later, powermax sold them, the Z jets ( pulse jets )arrived at the same time from Zannin in Italy so mybe the Johnathon was from Zannin having a z motor .
I used to use silicone sewing machine oil on co2 engines like the telco ,shark, modella and brown, I have to say i have never oiled a gasparin, i have them but not use a lot
I have loads of co2 engines even a powermax shark twin used to fly a lot of freeflight and back in 1990 some rc with the modella

Nice! never played with co2 motors but I agree with the use of sewing machine oil, I use it as a after run oil on my diesels, it's very thin and doesn't dry out and go sticky.

Sewing machine oil is used on the shaft of high end centre pin fishing reels for this very reason. When you're paying £900+ and waited 2 years for a hand made and machined reel which essentially consists of just a cage and drum you want to use the best oil for the job and NO I don't have one!
