Grumpy's Electric!

Now don't get all excited Garry - I haven't defected to the dark side! Was at the field last Sunday fortnight and one of the blokes was flying this 3D thingy - ARF and *lectric. It met an ignoble end and said bloke was about to throw the result in the rubbish bin. Being ever the opportunist I done my best begging dog impression and was given the bits. To my observation it's your typical electric ARF - CNC cut from poor material and a bit light and flimsy. SO - being an idiot I decided that I'm going to rebuild it - properly - and even fit proper motive power. Of course ever one told me it can't be done - which - with an old fool like me is akin to waving a red flag at a bull!

I will be interested to see who else says it can't be done!

Oh dear Grumps, do I detect just a slight move to ELECTRIC, be careful, cos you can get infected just by handling an electric model

you will in time.
when the nose has become tired of the smell of fuel and the ears bored with the rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr of i/c, the electric will sneak up and clout you round the head.

An interesting challenge but it does look ever so light built for IC - unless you are thinking of a really small one!

Will you not end up with a completely new fuselage on the original wing and tail?

Even then I fear you will not have to wait long for any of those original structures to start to fail.

I've taken some detailed photos of the damage and I've begun to realise just what a challenge I've given myself!!

Build up that nose section with thin balsa & line it with fibre glass ...... you'll be able to stick a decent 60 in it then! ...... but you'll probably pull the wings off in the first tight turn.
