Grumpy's Electric!

I agree with all that has been said, but the ARTF 3D models are built light to enable them to do what they do. As an Artf modeler, surly the manufactures design the models for IC or electric, although I can appreciate that if IC is used then the structure would have to beefed up.

I would like you gents to explain something.I know this model was originally built for leecy and therefore can be built lighter.Grumpy has an opportunity to replace the front end with a beefed up IC mount.Why would the G force be greater than leccy and "Pull the wings off" ?

To be honest, it probably wouldn't, that was meant to be a bit of a joke.
In reality, it might put more strain on the wings if the weight of the fuz was greater.... but which is the heavier, an IC, fuel tank, & Rx battery .... or.... Electric motor & flight battery with BEC? .... probably not much to choose between.

I might be interested Phil - why - have you got one for sale?? If so PM me price, condition and postage - remember I'm way down in Australia. It would be a very interesting project and I don't have a Wankel! - Hmmmmmmmm

The possibility of a Wankel introduces a whole new ball game - I'll have to do some research on the power curves - if it's anything like a Mazda it will have to rev it's bloody head of to go anywhere. In the mean time I have made a few decisions: -

1. I measured the warp (banana) in the fuselage - it is just under 3 degrees to port. Hmm might be better to save the tail feathers and build a new fuselage.

2.The wings can be saved by rebuilding the broken ribs and D boxing the spare - a little bit of carbon fibre might be a good addition there. Luckily the wing attachment to the fuselage is via a carbon fibre tube and a .75 inch aluminium tube. Enough strength to stand a few tight turns!

3. The rebuild will be very different if I decide to find a Wankel for it - a Pumped 61 is another story.

Well Eric - I DO have one of those but it's in my Harvard - I think it would be a little wasted in the EX electric 3d thingo!
