A major repair but at least Depron crumples!

Yes all 2 mm - except the solid Depron needle nose which will be tissue covered for strength but no other reinforcing what so ever.
Apart from the 'electrics' the only non Depron bits of the airframe are the elevon horns (cut from sheet plastic), hinges (duct tape) and the servo links (paper clip wire).

The nose rebuilt to full length.

The solid Depron tip needs sanding to the correct shape. It will then be tissue covered stuck down with PVA.
Battery hatch and some minor filling still to do then painting.

Finally its all back together and painted.

Thanks Alan but of course if you know where to look you can indeed see the join(s) but in this case the primary object was simply to get it flying again.
It always was an experimental build to test the feasibility of 'all Depron with no reinforcing' so its surface finish never was that scale in the first place.
The biggest issue is the acrylic clear finish it now has. It is so slippery there is no way to hold it for a hand launch.
I will probably have to use two finger pads made from 180 wet and dry stuck to the fuselage in appropriate positions as I did on my V-1.

Yesterday evening with the last of the calm weather I intended to fly my Fairey Delta 2.
This is the 2019 picture although it was built way back in 2013.

First it did not bind but even when I eventually got it to the LH elevon servo was jammed. The FD 2 uses an individual mixer (it gave better control deflection than using the Tx elevon option) but the stalled servo current appears to have damaged the mixer.
Although there is a tiny hatch to access the rx everything else is "built in" so I had to look though the actual construction pictures to find out where the mixer unit actually was.

Buried under the rx box! The down side is it no longer uses that particular rx but hopefully it is still there. The intention is to remove it altogether and use the Tx's elevon setting.
As a highly swept delta and having flown the FD2 many times the one thing it does not need is big control throws!
The LH elevon servo will have to be replaced, it is also built in, but hopefully there is enough spare wire to be able to solder the new servo connections.

Overall just another little "repair job" that will take far too long to do but if you are going to keep it then it should be flown, even if only spasmodically.

As this old thread concerned a repair to the FD2 I just added the latest potential repair onto the end of it.

The FD2 did have grippy pads fitted before its next flight in 2015 and it still has them.
