Rise Nano was created by Klipkopwildlife

These are the 3D printed parts of the Rise Nano from PlanePrint. It's a sub 250gm motor glider.

Hopefully it should prove to be a nice flyer.

Yup, it's stuff that Jon brought out for me from 3DLabPrint. It's easy to use, and, more importantly, gives repeatable results. I just can't use the local stuff that I bought 3 rolls of, the supplier says there's nothing wrong with it, and it does foam, it just doesn't work for me.

Setting the tail on the boom.
Then I decided to spray the upper surface of the wings.

Hmm that didn't go well, the wings were printed at the same settings, they weigh exactly the same, yet this happens. I had decided not to spray the underside, now I might, just to see what happens.

Many years ago, there was an American model that had wings like that! I think it was called the Hobie Hawk. I do recall that 'they' claimed that taping your credit card to the fin gave it better directional contol!

What kind of spray? I looked around and found references to using strong hold hair spray. I found Boots sold this, especially as it had no scent. I tried it out on a couple of test-wing LW-PLA with one and two coats. No warping. Seems to deflect muck a bit. Minimal weight gain. Perhaps 3 coats would be better.

Automotive spray laquer Jon, exactly the same stuff I used on the Seagull.
Anyway, all 6 parts now printed, 20 hours, I managed to find gaps in the load shedding schedule.

Any idea why that automotive spray reacted like it did on that occasion when it was not a problem with the seagull?

KlippyYou were lucky with the automotive spray. Most eat PLA like it was hungry. However if the conditions are hot and dry enough you can spray with light coats and rely on the propellant to evaporate before the paint drops reach the surface. The only paint I found that did not readily eat PLA was "Wheel trim silver" but then silver only needs light coats.

Jon, the only difference is the filament, the scrap wings are 3dlabprint, the Seagull wings are eSun. I must confess I did go for a one coat cover, and I didn't have the spars in.
